Southern Author TJ, self-admittedly as irreparably complex, flawed and charismatic as her characters, is a colorful storyteller. A complex character of dichotomy…with seeming contradictions…all her virtues collide and coexist with her faults. It’s complicated but never boring.

Florida is a strange captivating place. I love it here. There’s a rhythm. The hot, muggy, sunshine land of orange, coral, pink, lavender — and gold — is timeless yet always reinventing herself. She is hip and trendy, warms the heart and echoes the days of yore, everything new and old at the same time, ever repeating. I love Florida. My home. There are so many colorful characters in Florida. There's a lot of money, development — not all of it good — and corruption.

As far back as the 1800s, people were moving to Florida to make their dreams come true. Florida, yes, Florida, is quite possibly the best state in America. True, the state certainly has its fair share of madness. And great wealth. What a rich and diverse culture! Love it. LOL. Coconut palms, royal palms, every kind of palm, sun, surf, sand and swamplands.

Oceanfront mansions, boats, planes and trailer parks. Diamonds, Rolls Royces, alligators. Socialites, snowbirds and pink plastic flamingoes. Tall manicured hedges, gates and sentry guards. Exclusive clubs and ritzy charity balls. America’s priciest zip codes.

The barons of the business world, the wolves of Wall Street, movie stars, artists and billionaires, retirees and strippers. Ambassadors to aerobics instructors, Captains of Industry and power brokers, cowboys and fisherman to political dynasties.

Yep, Florida is a land of extremes. Everything that’s gilt-lined and glamorous to kitschy and tacky. The Gold Coast!

Plenty of loony characters populate Florida settings. Florida is filled with bigger-than-life characters. The sandbar playground of the wealthy spans a long legacy of swashbucklers and bluebloods, mobsters and moguls, social lions and crashed hi-fliers, tiara-ed mavens and desperate housewives.

Big Sugar and Big Oil magnates and other international A-listers, plus surfers and bikini-babes and Parrotheads. Paradise. Tony enclaves of opulence and skyscraper condos.

Hibiscus blossoms, flaming bougainvillea and sparkling swimming pools. And hurricanes! No wonder so many memorable TV shows, films and books are set in Florida.

Wonderland Florida is the weirdness capital of America. An analysis of AP stories named Florida the country's #1 nuttiest state, per news output. It's also the locale of endless memorable memories. Such bizarrity emerges from the Sunshine State! It's the epicenter of all things crazy.

Yes, Florida does produce a staggering amount of absurdity. Sunshine State eccentricity. Amazing Florida. Plenty of humidity, sunny beaches, hi-fliers and high-rollers, shady people, crazy scandal, big bucks, secrets in the shadows…strange, unusual and wondrous tales! Masquerade and moguls, secrets and rumors, fistfights and feuds, headdress and black-tie, cocktails and jewels, big money and conspiracy and intrigue.

No surprise that people come to Florida to reinvent themselves, and to disappear. Florida is a very peculiar state. It’s the most absolutely fabulous place in the whole wide world.
